The STF hosts two meetings of Council every year: Council in October, and the Annual Meeting of Council (AMOC) in April.  

49 Councillors represent the teachers of the STA at STF Council in October and the Annual Meeting of Council (AMOC) in March.  

The STA (and all Associations) are allotted a certain number of Councillor positions based on how many teachers we have contracted to our divisions the previous year.  

Approximately 25 of these are Executive Councillors, who become Councillors automatically upon being elected to the Executive, for a one year term

The remaining positions are Non-Executive Councillors, who are elected from the membership by the Representative Assembly, after the conclusion of the Executive election, for a one year term

Councillors receive 1 day in lieu, known as "Council Release" for every council that they attend, in recognition of their service.  This is guaranteed and provided for SPS teachers through the SPSD LINC agreement.  GSCS teachers are provided release time through STA funds.  Click here to apply for Council Release.
